(Excerpt from “21 Day Prayer Challenge for Passionate Educators”
by Dr. Stephanie A. Harper)
“For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.”
James 1:3-4
In education, tests are one of the major components of the art of teaching and learning. The goal of tests is to provide feedback to the teacher and student (formative assessments) or to evaluate the students’ learning at the end of a course (summative assessments). Similarly, in the spiritual classroom of teaching and learning, there are tests. These tests, however, are tests of endurance. The goal of these tests is to grow you to full maturity in Christ. As you are led by the Holy Spirit to transform your school, expect your faith to be tested. Do not be discouraged or give up during the test. Let your endurance grow. God promises if you endure this test of faith, you will be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.
Prayer:
Holy Father, thank you for your love and strength. I know this test of my faith will not destroy me but it will grow me. Thank you for your strength to endure. Thank you for the grace to stand firm on your Word. No matter how arduous the tests may feel, I will continue to represent your kingdom in this school. For I know your Word will always produce fruit and prosper everywhere it is sent. Though my faith is being tested, right now, I remain joyful because of the guaranteed outcome of being made perfect through Christ Jesus. Thank you, Father, for transforming the educational system.
