With so many changes in this past year, going back to school can cause a lot of anxiety for children, teachers and parents. Whether you’re doing distance learning, having your kids attend in person school or doing the hybrid system, there are ways you can still make this a fantastic school year, free from worry and anxiety.
Here are a few signs to look for to determine if your student/child has anxiety:
Changes in sleeping and eating habits
Struggling to concentrate
Appearing restless or angry
Unexplained crying
Here are some ways you can foster comfort and care:
Stay positive. Even though there is a lot of “unfamiliar,” help them come up with new routines and make it fun.
Let them know they’re not alone. Even when emotions are high, assure them that they are safe and you are there with them.
Encourage them to talk about what they’re concerned about.
Know when to get outside help. Reach out to a doctor if symptoms continue to grow worse.
